GSS Cloud is a service that needs an administrator to manage the platform. Most activities are intuitive and others may take a little time to master. For instance, the report template is a powerful tool with a variety of options allowing users to create and tweak existing reports that fully meet each project requirements.

The GSS Cloud can be charged on a monthly pay-as-you-go model. Price savings can be offered for longer term engagements. If unsure or want to give it a try, then contact us and we can arrange a free trial including generating daily or weekly reports.

There are many commercially available 3rd Party GIS providers many already supporting GSS products.

The following are all configurable settings on the device to make it easy for 3rd Party GIS providers to integrate GSS products:

• File name (including keywords, i.e. MM, DD, YYYY, hhmmss)
• Directory Structure (Flat or Nested)
• File Type (CSV, JSON, Binary) – If binary, then we provide a decompression tool into CSV or JSON formats
• File Transfer Methods (FTP, HTTP)
• File Transfer Location – their FTP Server or HTTP Server)

There are several GIS providers that support GSS products including market leaders Vista Data Vision and Maxwell GeoSystems.

If your 3rd Party GIS provider doesn’t support GSS products, then urge them to reach out to us and we can provide them all the information and tools to assist free of charge.

GSS believes that our customers own the data and should be in complete control of their data.  We also want to make it easy to integrate into your backend system.

All the processing is done on our device and sent to a location that you define.  No data is sent to GSS and there is no API to retrieve your data (or costs associated with this service).  It is your data, you own it and you configure the device to send it where you want it to go.

As far as integration, we designed our vibration monitor to be flexible to work with customer backend systems, which make it easy for backend to integration.

There is also a free PC Console Application available from GSS website that can import files, view histograms, and generate reports (USBM, FFT, DB Plot). You will need an FTP or HTTP server for the device to upload files, and GSS or our partners can offer you access to our FTP server as you set yours up. There are many internet service providers that offer this as an inexpensive service.

GSS PC Console Application allowing users to manage GSS devices and is available to download for free from the GSS website.

The PC Console application can be used to reconfigure the GSS device locally via USB cable or remotely via an FTP server.

The PC Console application can meet most vibration reporting requirements by offering:

• Peak Interval Report
• Alert Summary Report
• USBM (waveform) Report
• FFT Report
• DB Plot Report

You will need an FTP or HTTP server for the device to upload files, and GSS or our partners can offer you access to our FTP server as you set yours up.  There are many internet service providers that offer this as an inexpensive service.

To manage devices locally via USB cable requires the USB cable accessory.

GSSLink is a Bluetooth Mobile Application allowing users to manage GSS devices and is available for free on Google PlayStore.

The Bluetooth Mobile application is ideal for configuring or troubleshooting devices onsite.

It also has Standalone mode, which is good when users want to walk around a site to take vibration readings from various locations.

• Standard Mode – Used for onsite configuration, viewing buffered readings, checking device status
• Standalone Mode – Used taking readings at various locations.

The Bluetooth Mobile application is not designed to receive scheduled uploads directly from devices or view waveform files.  However, the PC Console Application, which is available for free from GSS, along with an FTP or HTTP server could supplement the Bluetooth Mobile application to provide that functionality.

All gateway products come standard with a 3G/4G/LTE communication module.

There are useful commands that can search network bands and report their signal strength.  The modem can be configured to prioritize certain network bands over others.  This can be useful when installing on a new site.

You may consider network providers based on their site coverage.  Some IoT network providers have agreements with several local providers, which may be an option to address coverage concerns.

There are certain network provider bands especially LTE that constantly communicate to the module and this can drain the battery.  If so, the gateway can be configured in power save mode to address this issue.

Gateway and sensor products can support WiFi modules, which rely on WiFi networks. Many sites may have existing WiFi networks or a WiFi router can be easily added at an inexpensive price.

To cover all WiFi devices on a site may require more than one WiFi router.

High gain antennas and antenna extension cables may also be required in certain locations. WiFi signals can be impacted by the Fresnal effect.

GSS previous products used wireless mesh technology for sensors to communicate to our gateways. We are in the process of offer a new wireless mesh communication module that works with both our sensor and gateway products.

LoRa is a star network technology and ideal when only small amounts of data are required, i.e. vibration peak interval and tilt readings. Unfortunately, LoRa is not a good choice to transmit larger files, i.e. waveforms or audio files, as LoRa technology limits data transfer amounts.

Internal lithium primary batteries are the typical power source for GSS devices. GSS devices are designed to be low power and long battery life. If external power is supplied, the device will use the external power and the batteries will remain as hot-standby. If the external power should be removed, the device seamlessly switches back to internal power.

GSS are testing our products using alkaline and rechargeable batteries. These solutions could be options when short battery life (less than 1 month) is sufficient.

GSS does not offer external battery packs as a product, but our devices can work with them. GSS offers an external power cable that connects the external battery pack to the USB connector of our products.

Can run on external power 5V to 18V.

The GSS products with USB connectors can take mains power directly. GSS offers a USB cable that plugs into a 2A power adapter or PC and connects to the USB connector of our products.

GSS recommend procuring the USB cable accessory as it is useful to power the device in your office during configuration and also supports a serial terminal that is useful in viewing device logs in real time and issuing commands.

Comma Separated Values (CSV) is an non-proprietary data format that can be viewed with a text view (i.e. Notepad) or Excel.

CSV is a good format and the typical default setting for file formats.

JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a simple format for exchanging data that is easy for humans to read and write, and for machines to parse and generate.

JSON may be preferable when sending data to backend systems that parse and process incoming data.

Binary is the default for large files that contain raw data. Binary files are compressed considerably reduces the file size, reducing upload times and saving battery power. GSS provides a decompression tool free-of-charge that can decompress the files into CSV or JSON format.

Binary vibration files contain raw acceleration readings.  The GSS decompression tool can output in the desired file format, and also output as acceleration and velocity:
